Shareing internet conection????

Hey, you guys must get asked this alot, but i am wondering how to share my desktop computers internet conection with my laptop using an ethernet cord. I asked a guy i know who is an it technitian and he said something about the ip's and what not, it did not make sence to me, because i dont know alot about the networking side of things.
Can anyone tell me?

I am using the Sis 900-based PCI fast ethernet adaptor on the main computer
and an intell 8255x-based fast ethernet (i know, its old lol)

The process is really pretty much the same: Microsoft ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)
