No longer on the network? What?
Hi all
I will appologise in advance that as i am a new member i may have posted a dumb question, or done something wrong, in which case i am sorry - please point it out if i have done so! On with the problem... A few months ago i set up a wireless network in our home for a number of reasons: -To have all the music accessible by everyone -To be able to print from different places -To send files to other computers in an easier way than a USB stick or e-mailing something to yourself and more This morning, my dad tried to print something from his laptop (on the network) and it wouldn't print. So he sent it to my laptop I tried printing and again, nothing. So i thought i'll put it in the shared docs of the family desktop, but it wasn't in my network places. I opened up my network places on the desktop, and i only got the desktop and my sister's desktop. In the end i just directly connected it to the laptop, but i really want to know what happened. A few things to note/what may be the case: -My laptop has recently been updated - as i found this morning when my dedi server was shutdown and i had the message "your comp has...." -The desktop and sister's desktop had not been updated -I tried to update the desktop, i was told the framework couldn't be installed, so i got the manual download of it, but all that did was get rid of all computers on the network when viewed on the desktop. -My dad's laptop has also been updated This is probably an incredibly newby question, and sorry if it is. TIA, Nappymonster |
