Wireless cut out
Hey there, hope you guys can help me out, I would be extremely grateful!
My computer is running xp pro sp2 and my brother's laptop is running the same. We're trying to link up the D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G wireless router (dl-624). This is for sharing our Tiscali Internet. For this we needed a DSL modem with some sort of ethernet connection, something I didn't have. Luckily my best mate gave me his Origo ASR-8400. This did the job. Or so I thought it did. The problem we are having is that every 5mins my brother's laptop keeps getting cut off from the connection. He's at wits end with having to sign back in, log back in, refresh pages, etc. And I'm annoyed that he's annoyed. I thought maybe "we're both using wireless, I'll go wired to see if theres a solution to it. Nothing. Still cutting off. Strangely enough, sometimes I get cut off too. How do we fix this? Many thanks, Andy |

Re: Wireless cut out
What is the make/model of his machine? Is it a built-in wireless or an add-on PCMCIA or USB wireless module?

Re: Wireless cut out
I'd start by disabling ALL non-standard extensions to the 802.11g wireless protocol. I believe that router has several extensions to the standard, and they can be problematic.

Re: Wireless cut out
Look on the wireless configuration pages of the router's web based setup.
