Question [SOLVED] 32bit xp pc network transfer speed problems to 64bit xp pc

hi there
I have two machines, that are networked together, they are both xp pc, one is a 32bit machine and the other is 64bit machine.
I have them networked and they seemed to be runnig fine, I have pinged on both machines each other with no problems. I connect fine, but the problem arises when I transfer large files, every so often I transfer a 4gig file from the 32bit machine to the 64bit machine and then it says it will take 100minutes or more to transfer.
I know this is incorrect, as I used to have have two 32bit machines and a 4gig file would usually take under 5mins. I have tried putting different network cards in each machine and nothing seems to make much difference!
can anybody help???

p.s. if anybody needs more info I send it here.

hi

I managed to fix the problem myself, but as I can't find a delete button for my thread, I am happy to have it deleted now!

Re: [SOLVED] 32bit xp pc network transfer speed problems to 64bit xp pc

I just switched the 32bit cable from the lan pci card to the motherboard lan input and put the cat5 cable coming fron the other machine in another room with the internet, into the lan pci card. I couldn't work why that would make a difference but it has worked
