[SOLVED] Wireless connection problems
I just bought a new gateway mx8734 laptop. I have never had a laptop before so I also got a linksys wrt54g wireless router. When I use the router my laptop picks up the signal and says that I am receiving a good to excellent signal, yet I repeatedly get knocked off the internet.
What should I do in order to prevent this from repeatedly happening? Would a linksys wireless card help this? Thanks |

Re: Wireless connection problems
Try changing the channel on the router, you probably have interference from other sources.

Re: Wireless connection problems
I believe the problem has been resolved. I think that it may have been a combination of things. First of all with the new laptop I had a free trial of McAfee. I think the firewall was messing with my router, as soon as I uninstalled the McAfee it worked much better and I have not had any disconnects.
However, I have looked at some other possible sources of interference in my home and believe that I have found a channel on the router that works best, so I definitely appreciate that advice. Thanks |
