Thank you for your time
Hello everyone, I would like to thank everyone who would help me in advance. My problem is that every one hour I dissconnect, I enjoy playing online games but the problem is every one hour I dissconnect. This is getting very annying to me because in some areas in online games if I dissconnect i'll be sent back to the first level of dungeon.
I usually get 2 the 9th or 10th dungeon but then when the one hour is up I dissconnect and when I relogg back into the game i'll be back to the first level in the dungeon. I have four computers connected to one router and the router is connected to my ntl set box. Thank you for reading my post... |

Re: Thank you for your time
Do all four computers disconnect at the same time? If so, I would contact your Internet provider and have them either replace your router or at least check the lines. Another great test would be to start a persistent ping from each system to the other systems (ping <ip address> -t) and see if the pings drop from each system when you lose your Internet. If that happens, you have a switch issue (could be a built in switch on your router, but a switch problem no the less.) If they can ping each other but lose the ability to access the Internet, then you have either a router issue or a connectivity issue; both should be fixed by your ISP (unless you purchased your router separately.)
Try a persistent ping to www.juniper.com from one or all of you computers. They claim this site is publically pingable, but my firewall prevents it and I am too lazy to change it. :-) ping www.juniper.com -t |

Re: Thank you for your time
Go to Start --> Run --> type the letters "cmd" and hit enter. This will open a command prompt. From there, type ping www.juniper.com -t or ping the ip address of one of the other systems. You can find the IP address of the other systems by opening a command prompt there and typing ipconfig. The top address is the IP address of the system. It will probably look something like this:
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : mscsonline.com Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::44e3:8bfe:55b4:32e0%8 IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.1.1.2 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.1.1.254 This is from a Vista machine, so it may look a bit different, but my IP address is 10.1.1.2. If I wanted to ping this from another machine, I would type ping 10.1.1.2 -t (the -t at the end just makes it keep going and going and going whereas normally it would only send out four pings. To stop it, hit ctrl-c) If the other systems are Windows XP as well, you may want to check to make sure the local firewall is not on before you test the ping (always a good idea when troubleshooting.) Go to Start --> Control Panel --> Windows Firewall and turn it off if it is on. |

Re: Thank you for your time
Do all the computers have the same issue, or just the one you're using? Have you tried connecting it directly to the modem to see if that helps. Also, some information about the environment would help.
Please supply the following info. The name of your ISP and country of residence. Make/model of the broadband modem. Make/model of the router (if any). Connection type, wired, wireless. Make/model of network card or wireless adapter. Make/model of your computer. Version and patch level of Windows, i.e. XP-Home SP2.
