internet problem

Hello I have a problem with a computer:
1) My msn signs off(error code 80048820)(extended code 800484335)
2) The ie only loads certain pages sometime none
3)ftp software for my homepage doesn't work or is very slow

basically when my internet works it either is slow or real slow

I tried different network cards, but it seems like the problem is in Xp
What should I do to solve this issue? Thanks

Other pc on same modem(dsl box) works fine(No router or wirless)

Re: internet problem

Sounds like some kind of OS issue, maybe an interaction with one of your applications. Unfortunately it would be difficult to pick an exact issue. Have you looked through the application event logs on the XP system? You may get a clue from any logged error messages. Another option that may help would be to run the Windows or Microsoft Updates and make sure that you have the latest versions of all the supporting files.

Other than that, I would reinstall the operating system. This might be overkill, but often it is by far the quickest way to solve an issue like this. Check the logs first, this may point you in the correct direction.

Re: internet problem

I'd start by checking for malware/spyware, that's the symptoms I'd expect.
