Unstable Internet Connection
Hi all,
I just moved in an apartment and they have broadband internet switch from the wall so I only need to use a ethernet cable to connect my laptop to the wall switch to go online. Initially everything is going alright until I bought another laptop. I want this 2nd laptop to connect to internet as well but there's only one hole for the ethernet cable on the wall. So I bought a D-Link G604T modem router(wireless). The first ethernet slot of the modem is connected to the wall, and then the No.2 and No.3 slot is connected to both of my laptops. (both my laptops are Dell) However, problem occur. At the first 30mins both laptops' internet were working fine. After that, my 2nd laptop has this problem - constantly disconnected from internet while my 1st laptop is working normal. Then I need to right click the connection icon and then "Repair". Sometimes after repair the internet will get back to normal but sometimes not. If not, I need to go to "Network Connection" and disable the network, and then re-enable it. Sometimes the internet will reconnect itself too. It is very annoying. My MSN Messenger keep log-in and log-out. My online game character been killed not less than 10times. Hate it. One more thing, in Network Connections, there's a Internet Gateway, it seems like my apartment has a DSL-504T router. The internet won't connect until the Local Area Connection on DSL-504T says "Connected". Even the LAN is connected. I need help. Please help.............. Thanks everyone. !!! |

Re: Unstable Internet Connection
That won't work. Why not connect the WAN port to the wall jack, and the machine to the LAN port. I suspect that might work better. Your DHCP server is fighting it out with theirs, and you're also probably screwing other people up that are on the same switch!
