server as a router or stand alone router
Hi
I am currently enrolled in a networking class, I choose to setup a domain at my home to help with my studies. My question is this, what are the pro's and con's of using the server as a router vs having a physical router? I have satalite internet, the way it is now my internet goes from the satalite modem to my router then to my server/workstations (4 workstations, 2 wireless, 2 hard wired) Would it be better or worse to run it from the sat. modem to the server then to the router, having the server act as a dhcp and dns server? Thanks Hoffy |
