Sudden Drop In Internet Access Speed
Hi, I'm currently using a 1.5mbps wireless connection. The router that I'm using is a 2WIRE 2700HG. Recently, I went to www.speedtest.net to check on my connection speed. I was quite suprised to see it read around 400kbs. Please note that this number fluctuates quite greatly but never appears to go above 400kbs. I'm pretty confident about my network security as I have done all the necessary procedures as recommended by the experts in this forum. As such, my question is is more on the lines of
1. Is the website www.speedtest.net, reliable to check my connection speed? 2. Could it be some hardware failure or malware? 3. My local ISP has just offered an upgrade of my connection speed to 3mbps. Is it possible that they mixed it up somehow? I thank you for your time. |

Re: Sudden Drop In Internet Access Speed
It could be most anything. Do you have any other computers on that router? If so, what speeds do they get?

Re: Sudden Drop In Internet Access Speed
If the speeds are all over the map, and you've ruled out malware, I'd have to strongly suspect the ISP.

Re: Sudden Drop In Internet Access Speed
it is the ISP.
I checked my speeds and I get half of what I pay for. I called them and they have no clue whats wrong.
