Slow Proboards
Ok I am not sure I am posting this in the right place but worth a shot, see my problem is about 6 weeks ago for some reason a site I visit regularly began to go really slow it is a proboard forum anyway I am the only one on the site with this problem, and any other site I look at goes fine except for proboards. they are all slow. I have deleted history temp file, cookies run virus, adware spyware, rebooted system and modem, turned of firewall and anything I can think off. and nothing seems to work, I have changed from Internet Explorer to Firefox, I have posted in Proboards support and got no help there, on another support form they suggested I pinged the site and do a tracert, which I did but do not understand the results, and we seem to have all those guys stumped so if anyone thinks they can help or want more info any ideas would be greatly appreciated it is my favourite site and I am going crazy.

Re: Slow Proboards
Please explain to me why you blanked out the information so that I could do the test as well and compare the results?

Re: Slow Proboards
Other than a slower link, I don't see anything really strange. I've posted my TRACERT results. Let's try something else for your connection quality.
Register at DSLReports and run their line quality tests. Post a link to the results here. Re: Slow Proboards
If you have a broadband router, you enable ICMP requests in the configuration. If you're running directly connected to the modem, your firewall has a configuration option to enable PING (ICMP) requests.

Re: Slow Proboards
Hi John
This may sound like a dumb question but can my IP Address change? cause I notice I am getting a different address, when I went to test line than what I got this morning? The one I got this morning was the same as all my pings etc. Secondly do you think a virus could do this, even though I have run many virus scans etc, because as of today my computer has crashed a few time, when I finally got it back online all the icons where huge tried to change them back but it would not let me, also a while back I had issues with my CPU over heating so tonight I cleaned all the fans etc after it crashed got back on line and all icons still huge, and just shaky all round and really slow so I did a systems restore and that restored icons and seems a little stabler now. Ok trying to run Line test now hopefully I have fixed firewall to allow it , I will post results as soon as I get them, it seems very slow and it is 1.13am here so if I do not get them don tonight I will do them in the morning how long should a line test take cause it took like an hour this morning. |

Re: Slow Proboards
If you have a dynamic IP address, it can change if your modem gets disconnected for any reason.

Re: Slow Proboards
Ok I go directly to modem no router, I have enabled ping in my Zone alarm firewall but still it is saying I am not pingable, Computer really slow and sluggish again today. DO you think this could be issues with CPU or a virus?

Re: Slow Proboards
It could most certainly be malware, you should rule that out before you try to fix the network.
