Weird DNS Issue? [moved from XP]
Ok, so I've never seen a problem like this before.
So, my laptop is set up to synchronize a group of folders over the network from my desktop. It worked fine for several month with no issues what so ever. If I type in //Desktop from my laptop, I am only able to see the offline files. Usually this only happens when you aren't connected to the network. So I thought maybe the connection was being weird. But, If I type in //DesktopIP, all of the correct, folders show up also, like they are supposed to. So, I thought, maybe the DNS wasn't working, but if I ping the Desktop's Name, I get back the IP correctly. I have no clue what would cause it to resolve the correct IP but not be able to connect properly. Even though I can connect using the IP, I am unable to synchronize at all. The only resolution I see if setting up the synchronization to ip instead of DNS name, but then I would have to resync all of my files. Any suggestions? |
