home networking problem
I have a pc os xp + laptop os xp
I am using a netgear wireless router I have no problem connecting to the internet, but cannot get my laptop to connect to the printer that is connected to the pc. I used the wizard to reset my home network with shared files and printer but still no joy. Is there something simple i am doing wrong? I'm sure when i set it up about a year ago there was no problem, all that has changed is i got a new pc, but i installed all the software. I am changing my laptop next month and i wonder if i'm going to have the same issues. Any assisstance would be appreciated.

Re: home networking problem
You might share the make/model of the printer with us? Also, if you're getting a new laptop, you might as well solve the problem with that one. No sense putting a lot of work into this issue now.

OK... On the PC that has the printer, do you have the printer shared??? If no, please share the printer and give it a name, ( you can do this by right clicking on the printer icon in the Printers and Faxes ansd going to sharing) then try to install a network printer from the laptop and if you are able to see the other machine then you should be able to see the printer under it as well( You have to click the "+" sign next to the Machine name. You did not mention if this was XP SP2 or SP1, if it is SP2, then there is a firewall issue as well, you can configure the firewall to give access to the other printer so that you can get to the printer thru the PC.
