Wireless Router

Hi, i formated my pc today and ive just connected back to the wireless.. But im having some issues i need to resolve..
this is what i got..

D-Link DWL 520 pci adapter..... With Extended arial (the big one)

Router: D-Link DI-624 (Extended range enabled)

Before i formated i got 4-5bars which is good considering my router is 20m away.. and goes through 3 walls... Gaming was not a problem until now.. After i formated i can only get 1-2 bars.. I backed up all data and have restored it.. Everythink works fine but i carnt get my signal above 2.. Every time i play games online it says "Connection Lost" but comes back a split second later (Very laggy when it does this)...
Its not the router as my brother has the same setup and his room is next to mine.
I Carnt seem to find the problem... Are there any apps out there that can help....

Also im thinking of buying a new wirless router anyway... I have $200AUD to spend does any know of a good wireless router...
Things it needs to do................

Stream Audio/Video Files larger than 1bg (HD Videos)
Stream mp3
ADSL 2 commpatible
Online Broadband Gaming
Latest security
Long range 802.11b
Able to tweak Firewall settings

Thanks guys....

Re: Wireless Router

I'd start by looking at the settings for the DWL 520 drivers, since that's what changed here. Are you sure you have the same options enabled as before?

Re: Wireless Router

The problem is there are no drivers for vista for the 520... D-Link gave me some Atheros Wireless Adapter drivers... They are the basic drivers in which D-link build around.... But it works... But there are no setting to play around it will either work on Vista or it wont...

This is the link to the drivers http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.as...20%20DWL-AG660

Re: Wireless Router

Since the thing that changed was the drivers for the wireless adapter, I'm at a loss as to why you'd think about replacing the router.

Why not buy a new wireless adapter?

Re: Wireless Router

In that case, I'd consider this one resolved until you get the new equipment.

Re: Wireless Router

I don't know off-hand of any compatible models, perhaps looking on the Vista pages at Microsoft would be a good start.
