Idea Change a Read only file to one that can be edited

Please help, I am working on final exams and I really need to edit a file that is read only. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what kind of file it is.. If its a simple text file (typically .txt extension) or a word processor document etc.. you can right click on the file icon, choose properties and you'll see a "Read-only" checkbox down at the bottom by "attributes"

.. if its a PDF then the original publisher of the PDF likely set a Read Only rule and I dont believe you can change that.

oh.. and if your opening an attachment directly from an email (ie: you didnt save it to the hard drive first) and its saying read only.. try File -> Save As.. and save it to the desktop.. many email programs only allow attachments to be opened as Read Only..
