cannot access...read only or encrypted

Hi all
I have a desktop and a laptop networked with an Addon wireless router which works fine usually however at the moment I am getting a dialog box with"cannot access (filename) file may be read only or encrypted".
If I make a new file it will open on the other computer but older ones will not.
The internet connection is also working fine.
Can anyone help please

Re: cannot access...read only or encrypted

What specific versions of Windows are we dealing with? Be specific, XP-Pro, XP-Home, Windows 2K, etc. Does this happen on only one machine or multiple machines? Is this a new issue, or one that you've had for some time?

Re: cannot access...read only or encrypted

I'm running XP home.
Since I closed the computer down last time I cannot open any of the files. It seems that I can only open them if they are new files and the network has not been closed down. This has been happening for some weeks now but I've had the network working for about 3 years with no problem.

Re: cannot access...read only or encrypted

This thread is over a year old, I suspect it's dead.
