Internet connection question # 800,000
Hi TSF...
I am thinking about getting a summer job as a booth person to a park where I would sit in a small booth and let people in the park. I would have a LOT of time where I would be alone. So naturally, I want the interweb. I have a laptop and there is only an electrical socket in the booth. My question is... what method can I use to get the internet? Anything? I have heard a lot about BPL (broadband over powerlines http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_l...ines.2C_BPL.29) and wonder if it is available at all yet. Also, I got suggestions from these 2 links (http://www.sprint.com/business/produ...Plan_tabA.html , http://www.cingular.com/midtolarge/pccard) that it would be possible to use these to get to the internet. Thanks for any ideas and considerations (!) |

Re: Internet connection question # 800,000
Hi DigitalDisaster,
If they have a wireless network you can check with their IT personel and perhaps get access, depending if it is allowed and the access reaches to the booth. Other than that you're pretty much out of luck, unless there is a hotspot close enough by for you to access. As far as the links you posted on cingualar and sprint, if you are a part of their plan and the park resides in their coverage area you should be good to go. |

Hi, and welcome!
![]() I would look at getting a mobile broad card from a provider like Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T (Cingular). They will allow you to connect without your own AP (Access Point). You should to check if the companies provide access in the city where you live.
