i've got a wireless adsl2+router, ive connected it all properly using an ethernet cable etc.. but when i use the disk to configure the wireless it says that it cannot find the router i dont know what to do!! i'm useless with computers and haven't really got a clue! im currently using a normal modem supplied by homecall, i followed all the directions with where the cables go etc..

Re: can't install my wireless!!

ok, the disks they ship with those rarely work, at least i have never had any luck with them. it cant find the router... are you trying to set it up wirelessly? it will not work wirelessly and you will have to plug it in. if its plugged in, then do you have an ip address? go to start, run. then type cmd and press enter. now type ipconfig and post what comes up (note, you cant just copy and paste like normal. the enter key copies the text). it may just not be able to work with the router's dhcp.

Re: can't install my wireless!!

no, i meant that it was all plugged in and it still wouldnt recognise the router, I tried it again but its still the same. i did used to have a laptop that linked directly into the back of my comp via an ethernet cable so i dont know if the settings are still for that, and if they are i have no idea how to change them!

Re: can't install my wireless!!

With the machine connected using a cable to the router, do this:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
