No internet/network connection after installing Windows XP
I recently got myself a laptop/notebook (Acer Aspire 3693WLMi) with Windows Vista Basic installed on it. I wanted to install Windows XP on it, and so I did. But after the installation I noticed that I didn't have an internet or network connection anymore. My whole network adapter was lost and couldn't be found.
I re-installed Windows Vista to see if the same problem would happen there. But it didn't. My network adapter was there and my internet worked. Then I tried again it with Windows XP, but my connection was again gone. From my brother's PC, I went to look for information on how to fix this problem. I tried downloading drivers, searching for new hardware, but nothing (I tried) worked. Can anyone help me with this problem? By the way, I got a wired network, type Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. Last edited by PiccoloR. : 04-12-2007 at 02:28 PM. |

Re: No internet/network connection after installing Windows XP
I believe Windows Vista is better with gathering drivers compared to Windows XP. Vista has a better database of current drivers for devices. That would explain why it shows up.
Is the Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller your network adapter and you just cannot find it to download? Last edited by verdrm : 04-12-2007 at 07:48 PM. |

Re: No internet/network connection after installing Windows XP
Yes, it's my network adapter. But when I go to 'Device Manager', 'Network adapters' is supposed to be listed there right? When I install Windows XP, 'Network adapters' is nowhere to be found.
I really don't know what to do. |

Re: No internet/network connection after installing Windows XP
You need to obtain the chipset drivers for the machine, that will allow you to find the integrated motherboard resources.
