Cannot Receive Packets
Long story short: My college computer has been constantly crashing, so I am using my parents laptop for college. It is kind of old and uses Windows 2000. The first day I start to use it, I get massive spyware. I was able to remove the spyware, but now my Internet is not working, both wired and wireless. It connects to my network, but I am not receving any packets, only sending. Please someone help!

Re: Cannot Receive Packets
Also, I have already tried reinstalling the drivers. I can't copy/paste what ipconfig says since i am using a different computer, but I can say that the default gateway and the dns servers are blank (if that means anything). The router is fine since I am connected to it right now on this computer and the wireless was working perfectly yesterday.
Also, when I try to renew the Local Area Connection it keeps saying an operation was attempted on something that is not a socket. Last edited by ocho cinco : 04-12-2007 at 08:18 AM. |

Re: Cannot Receive Packets
Did you solve the problem? I have the same problem, my notebook can send packets but cannot receive them.
The notebook worked perfectly few days ago. But now it doesn't. My win2000 notebooks finds the wireless network automatically and connects to it, but it cannot find any other machines on the network. Internet doesn't work. Internet used to work perfectly even with straight connection to cablemodem trough USB. Now even that doesn't work. It sends packets but cannot receive any. When I set the IP manually, it can connect other computers on the wireless network and ping them. Filetransfer works fine, but internet doesn't. It can even ping my D-Link DI-524 wlan/router/firewall, but cannot enter configuration trough internet explorer. The notebook has a A-link wlan card and it has been working fine before this. So far I have done this: -Reseted the computer, cablemodem and D-link DI-524 -Reconfigured the D-link DI-524 -Tried other connection methods (straight cablemodem trough USB) -Triplechecked connection settings -Manually configured IP There's something really weird, or is there? It won't receive packets and cannot receive IP or hostname. Any ideas what to do? The network has two laptops and the other one is working just fine (win xp) with the D-link box and cable modem.
