Error message: pxe-e05
I'm running an old laptop, compaq evo n110, intel celeron 996 mhz with 120 mb ram. The other day it crashed and when i rebooted it i go the message: "Error: Pxe-e05. The LAN-adapter's configuration is corrupted or not initialized. The Boot agent cannot continue." Despite this windows continues to boot without problem. The only thing is that my broadband connection doesn't work. The computer states that my network card is working just fine and that i'm connected to the network but i cannot access the internet. The network card listed is Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter (10/100). Before it crashed i think it was called something else? Intel Pro Mobile Adapter or something. I've tried the internet for clues, found the advice to check the boot-order in bios but i don't think that's the problem...
Is there anything i can do to save my dinosaur? |

Re: Error message: pxe-e05
Try uninstalling the adapter in device manager. Windows should re-install it automatically
Unfortunately, the pxe error is a function of bios. You might have to clear bios in order for it to be reconfigured. If there is no way to clear bios by way of a keyboard combination or a reset button, you may have to remove the cmos battery to clear it |
