I can't create local area connection

Hello, TechSupport members,

I have problem. So, i try to describe. Sorry for grammar mistakes, cause I from Lithuania (country near Russia), so I don't speak english very good.

I have two computers. One is simple, other Laptop: HP Pavilion 6000 AMD Turion 64 Mobile technology MK-36 (OS: WinXP x64). So, i want to create local area connection. On simple computer i going to network connections, i see local area connection. Click right-mouse -> Properties. Item: Internet Protocol TCP/IP -> Properties: Use the following IP address. IP address: 192.168.0.2, subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 getaway: 192.168.0.1. OK. Everything cool. Connected! I receive and send packets very good. I open my HP Pavilion laptop. I do the same, only IP address: 192.168.0.1, getaway: 192.168.0.2. Click OK. I try to connect. Connected. But... I can't receive and send packets. I see status, go to Support tab, i see connection status: Address type: - ; IP: - ; Subnet mask: - ; default getaway: -. Computer has not filled IP, getaway and so on. I going to Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and I want to configure IP, getaway and etc. All are filled, but in status don't write this information. I try to repair connection, i get: "Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed: Failed to query TCP/IP settings of the connection. Cannot proceed. For assistence, contant the person who manage your network". What is problem?

I think, cause problem will can be drivers. Cause in driver manager i found those unknown drivers (other drivers): 2 base system devices (maybe one is video driver GeForce, I can't install it too (it will be next question :))), coprocessor, modem device on high definition audio bus, network controller, other PCI Bridge device, SM Bus controller.

One interest subject is that, cause my in Laptop in network connections i found not Local Area Connection, but 1394 connection (1394 Net Adapter).

So, thanks for help.

If you find no NIC (other than the IEEE-1394) under Network Controllers, you're probably missing the network drivers. That's the first issue you'll need to address.

You need to visit the HP site and download the drivers for that laptop first, I think that'll get you started on the road to recovery.

Re: I can't create local area connection

You obviously have a NIC, both wired and wireless.

Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Network Adapter
nVIDIA nForce 430 (MCP51) - LAN Controller (PHY: Realtek RTL8201CL/CP)
Did you look in Device Manager under Network Controllers? What is listed there? Are there any errors listed?

FYI, a huge report like that is more than most of us are willing to wade through, you need to provide targeted information, not a huge dump like that.
