Any help would be appreciated
So here is my story. I have 3 desktops and 1 laptop in the home. So I run two desktops off of the wired part of my wireless router and the laptop and one desktop are on the wireless. (desktop is too far and laptop because its portable)
I also like to play alot of online games on my xbox. occasionaly set up a lan party where i have anywhere from 8 other xbox 360 in my basement. When i do this I usually set up an 8 port router down there so everyone can play. My question, if I can do this, is would i be able to set up a network in my house. Where I can have the internet run to all desktops and laptop as well as the spots in the basement where the xbox's would normally go. I saw a 14 or 16 port switch but i am not sure on hows these work. I would also like to eventually set up a 250 gb Linksys Etherfast Network harddrive and printerserver. But that wouldnt be until much later on down the road. So if anyone can make any sense out of what i just wrote, i would like some guidance if you could. What should I buy to make this network work if it could, and how can i make it work.... Thank in advance |

You could use a wireless bridge to connect your wireless network to the basement router.
Here is one. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...866&CatId=1594

Re: Any help would be appreciated
I'd used wired to the remote location, especially with multiple computers connecting there. Wired will also minimize the lag, especially important for multiple game sessions.
