LAN/router net connection problem
Hi,
I have recently purchased a router and am in the process of creating a LAN. The computer I am using has a perfectly working net connection through a an adsl modem. I have used the manufacturers set up genie prog which went through all the stages of setting up the device fine until the final stage of actually accessing the internet. IE opens and then the little box prompting how you want too dial up a connectionappears. It gives me a 678 error message. I can understand this because the old modem is umplugged. What confuses me is that the LAN connection in the network connections area is all up and running showing a working connection. All the lights on the router power/dsl/internet/ethernet are working fine, all cables are plugged in the right sockets etc. I have messed around with the new connection wizard but it doesn't seem to allow me to make a connection through the LAN which I can see is woking fine!! Very frustrating. Any way, any help would be greatly appreciated I hope I'm just being stupid. |

Re: LAN/router net connection problem
what's the manufacter name and model of the router.... Is this DSL or Cable?
DSL normally requires a PPPoe login with a username and password. Cable it is not used. DHCP is automatic. I will wait for your reply.

Re: LAN/router net connection problem
If you provide make/model of any networking equipment, including the modem and router, that would be a start.
