IBM Wireless internet really screwed
Hello all, i am having problems connecting my IBM laptop to wireless networks. I can connect to networks utilizing 128 bit encryption and locations like YVR airport, but anywhere else it says it cannot connect to the router. I have basically tried everything short of reformatting the computer. I installed new drivers, tried other stuff and what not. The wireless adapter on this laptop is an Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter. Someone please help :( this is not fun

Re: IBM Wireless internet really screwed
The Intel adapters have a LOT of issues. I would look for driver updates directly from the Intel site and not IBM's. Also if you do not have XP SP2, I would highly recommend this update.
I would suggest either using the Windows Wireless Zero manager, not the IBM wireless manager or download and install the Intel wireless manager. The other issue is some of the wireless networks may be configured to exclude wireless B. If I were you, I would look at upgrading the card to an Intel 2200. But be careful, I think???, IBM requires a specific Intel 2200 card to work with their machines?? Do some research on line before you jump. You can find Intel 2200 internal cards on eBay for around $25. JamesO |
