Help with my network,please.
I have win XP home
Linksys wireless router My network suddenly developed a problem. I have 2 desktops and a Laptop in my network. From the host computer , I can access shared files from the other hard wired desktop but not the WIRELESS Laptop. It shows up in my workgroup computers with the other desktop but when I click to access it ,it says access denied. I CAN access shared files on the host from the Laptop but not vice versa. All used to work fine. I can ping back and forth from laptop to desktop and desktop to laptop, file sharing is turned on. Anyone have suggestios where to look next? It used to work. |

Re: Help with my network,please.
If that works, you should allow all the LAN computers in the network to go through. This should only be done though if you have security enabled on the router. If you don't, just allow the desktop's IP.
To allow all LAN IPs, set an allowed IP range from 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.255. To allow only the desktop, set an allowed IP address with the IP from the desktop. In Windows on the desktop, run: Code:
ipconfig

Re: Help with my network,please.
Still not working. I disabled the firewall on laptop. I checked the router and it has a range for all Lan's.
When I click "Network places" on the host computer the wireless Laptop doesn't show up. If I then click on "WorkGroup computers" the Laptop shows in my workgroup, but when I click on it it says access denied. On the Laptop: If I click on Start-"Network Places" the desktop and laptop are both there and I can click on the Desktop and view the files on the Desktop ok ,but not from desktop to laptop.(?????) However, I was able to copy files from laptop to the shared folder on the desktop while viewing shared folder from desktop on the laptop. Also ,my wifes desktop shows in Network places on my desktop and the laptop. I can access her shared folder from my desktop. Her firewall and mine are on. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Help with my network,please.
If you don't have any shared folders on the laptop, it won't let you in. You have to share a printer or folder/drive on the laptop.

Re: Help with my network,please.
It is some firewall that is doing this. Check all the firewalls, and see if the Windows Firewall is off.
