DNS server problem after leaving AOL

Hello everyone - my first post!

I have just cancelled my AOL broadband connection (hooray!) and moved to another provider. I connect via a Netgear ADSL router with some AirPort extremes dotted around the house to make a wireless network.

I have a Mac laptop, and since the switch it all works just fine. My PC desktop is behaving very oddly though. It will connect to the router, and the router says it is connected to the internet. So far, so good. But I cannot open any websites using IE unless I type the actual IP address, i.e. http://216.239.59.99 for Google, which works fine.

This implies to me it's a DNS issue, but the new provider's details are in the router and that's working fine with the laptop (browser = Safari). Also, the correct DNS addresses are in the AirPorts.

When I look at ipconfig/all in the command function I'm being told that the ethernet adapter local area connection DNS server is 205.188.146.145 - which is AOL's apparently. I have removed the AOL software and rebooted and flushed the DNS resolver cache to no avail.

Now I'm stuck, and would really appreciate some advice please!

Many thanks!

My System

Go into the TCP/IP properties and make sure that Obtain DNS server address automatically is checked.
