Solved: vista networking to xp machines

hi all ive just upgraded the sons machine and cant get it to conect to the network here im running a hub with straight thru cables etc and had no dramas with anything running xp seing the other machines and getting on the net.it says its conected to an unknown connection .any help would be apreciated guys as im not experienced in all this thanks in advance regards mike

First off, what make/model broadband router and/or modem are you using. I presume this is a home network? On the Vista machine, do this:

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

thanks heaps but i sorted it ive just finished i had to rename the network on the vista machine to mshome and then it all seemed to recognise each other
