Trying to get on the Internet on a PC
Hello everyone!
This is my first post on this forum. My problem is: - I have one laptop(lets call it L1) that has a wireless card, but no Ethernet port. Currently, it has only XP installed on it, and it does not seem to recognize the wireless card that's attached to it. I have another laptop(ill call it L2) ,that is currently connected to the internet(through its Ethernet port). What would I need to do to get L1 connected to the internet(download the XP patches,etc...)? If i get a network cable, and connect it to L2, would that be enough? Or would I need special software to connect the 2? A friend of mine helped me with this in the past, and I think he did it by connecting L1 to his PC with a network cable, and updating L1 that way. Could u pls tell me what choices I have? thank you for your help |

Use the computer with the internet connection and download the driver/software for the wireless card, and transfer it to the PC with the wireless card, then use it to install it.

I might have read all this incorrectly. But it seems the fix would be to have a wireless router for L1 to connect to, and then have L2 plug into one of the ports on the back of the router via ethernet. |

How about the make/model of the laptop in question. Also, let's see this on the non-working unit.
Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt: Type the following command: IPCONFIG /ALL Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter. Paste the results in a message here.
