My System

New computer, can't connect to the internet.

I have a couple friends over for a LAN. One of them is able to connect hard wired to my switch, a long with me. But my other friend is unable to. He normally uses wireless, and connects fine with that. So as setting it up I routinely Disabled the wireless connection, enabled the hard wire network controller (1394 generic controller) And no luck with internet. I made sure there are no problems with the device, it doesnt have a proxy, auto detect settings, i've tried different cords. The connection is ON BOARD but I use onboard lan too.

Is it possible that the generic 1394 connection being the only option basically meaning there is no installed ethernet controllers used for a connection? I have a nVidia LAN controller, a long with my friend's computer that Does work with the internet. I have it connected to a switch, which is connected through a router, then a cable modem. I've used 3 connections at once no problem.

Anybody have any ideas on setting this up?

Nevermind, fixed the problem. He had a NIC but the drivers weren't installed, I just wrote them onto a flash drive and transferred them. Close thread :)
