Having problems with my internet after reformat

i reformatted last night now i cant connect to the internet for some reason... i dont even have a local area connection icon when i click start control panel network connections i only have a 1394 connection, and it says that is firewalled please help me ...thanks in advance

Hello:

I am assuming that you are using a highspeed connection like Cable or DSL.

If the the network card does not show up in the NETWORK CONNECTIONS window, you may have to install drivers for the card.

Did you purchase the card after you purchased the computer?
When you re-installed, did you use restore disks that came with the computer or did you use a full version of Windows?

Also, if this is a home build, what about the MB drivers? If the network card is integrated, you definitely need the drivers from the disk that came with the MB. I don't think XP even sees my network adapter without the drivers, since it is integrated.

Other than that, have you tried to reset your modem or router back to factory default? It is possible that you may have to do that and then reconfigure it/them.
