(let it be denoted by x) 1 pc with usb type wireless client. (let it be denoted by y) 1 laptop with inbuilt wan connectivity. (let it be denoted by z) Now Iwant to share the internet and share all systems. i.e. x, y and z Do I have to do the networking with ip or without it? Please help me??? A walkthrough will be helpful Thanks in advance ![]()

I don't exactly understand what your asking, ill try to help though. if your computer that's hooked up to the wireless router has internet, all you should need to do is go on the other wireless enabled computers and search for a wireless network and connect. if you installed the drivers the usb wireless device came with you should be able to do this by going to start>connect to>wireless network(wording may vary slightly) the labtop should be all wireless internet ready out of the box, just search for a network and connect to it.

Ok...I will take a stab at this one...Please forgive me if I am missing your question.
Basically, you want to arrange all of the letters in your alphabet so that they spell --> INTERNET CONNECTIVITY! Let's begin at the MODEM (DSL or CABLE):
That should get you started These are very basic instructions...Once you get rolling you may want to do other things...Like secure the wireless signal. We would have to know the specific router info for that. ANyway...Good Luck --PE ![]() |

If I understand this correctly...Here is my answer If you originally had only one PC hooked to the MODEM then the PC took on the IP from your Service Provider. Now that you are throwing a ROUTER into the stew--> The ROUTER takes on the IP from the Service Provider. NEXT...The router issues it's own IP's to another other devices using it. The router is a PostOffice for the Town otherwise known as YOUR HOUSE. Anything information coming or going between your house and the big-bad-internet must pass through the router. The router directs the info to the appropriate PC on the network. BTW---Your PCs will take on IP addresses that look like this 192.168.xxx.xxx Hope this helps... --PE ![]() |

Why is there two wires coming from the broadband modem? The only connection from the modem should be to the router.

Most broadband modems with USB and Ethernet only allow ONE of them to be active at the same time.
Of course, if you told us the make/model of all the equipment, we could probably be a lot more help.

Where's the make/model of all the equipment I asked for?
It appears that you're trying to use ICS on the computer with the USB connection, and then connecting a router too. Is there any reason you don't just get a modem with Ethernet and connect it properly to the router?
