You say all web browsers.

If this includes Firefox, Netscape or Opera, these browsers do not support Windows Updates.

My guess is either Norton Internet Security, Net Nanny, some form of content control or some pop up blocker causing you issues if any of these programs stalled on the machine? Also possibly a DNS issue?

You should try to ping and/or route trace to the sites you cannot reach to see if you can actually connect to them.

I meant the webpages dont show and windows cannot update via the updater, sorry for the confusion. How would I go about pinging these websites and if it is a dns issue what can be done? We had norton installed but we removed it to see if it made a difference but it didnt. No firewalls or anything are up either.

Thing is, it was fine before we had the wireless router. We tried replacing the wireless router too. Its like the forth one we have had, and norton only ran on one of the computers in this house. This is the main one which is connected by ethernet, the rest are connected by usb sticks and one laptop wont connect at all.

So all computers are having trouble with the same pages? So, let's say yahoo was a problem page, does that mean that yahoo could not be accessed on all computers?

Put these IP address in your browser and see what happens:

69.147.114.210 - Yahoo

206.24.222.126 - Hotmail

64.233.161.147 - Google

64.236.16.84 - CNN

If you can only get the pages with the IP address, then there is a DNS issue.

Did you copy the Hot Mail address or type it in??

If you copied it and it did not work, something else is up.

Ipconfig /all copy and paste the info back here.

What type of Internet service do you have?? DSL, Cable, other?

Do you know what your DNS servers are?
