cannot share internet because ics does not work, is there another way, and how???
hello everyone,
i got a problem connecting my 2nd computer to internet, i want to share the connection via a 2nd network card. i'vebeen trying for days now.... this is my setup: host computer: windows 2000 sp4 1st network card: ip: obtain automatic dns: obtain automatic 2nd network card: ip: 192.168.0.1 subnet: 255.255.255.0 gateway: ----- dns: ------ (i did found dns numbers by running: ipconfig /all, are they necessary?) client computer: ip: 192.168.0.2 subnet: 255.255.255.0 gateway: 192.168.0.1 dns: ----- this is what i get: the host can see the shared files of client, the client cannot see the host. when i use ICS on the host, it says: an error occurred while enabling internet connection sharing (sometimes it says before that: an unexpected condition occurred) whatever i do ics does not work...... is there a way around???? does anyone know the solution??? greetings, kathodyne |

Would be much easier with a router.

You have money for multiple computers but not for a $20 router?

This usually is a firewall problem.

I think you made the right move.
![]() FYI, many times "network help" is talking you out of a bad idea, which is the case this time. ![]()
