Re-registering Isp hardware every two hours??
Please help. I just recently taped into my grandma's cable internet via a router. We both run windows XP. I unhooked her connection that was directly from the cable modem and put the internet in the uplink port and proceeded to plug my computer and hers into the two other ports on my DYNEX router. We both have internet, but the PROBLEM is a message from our ISP that pops up every two hours or at least after a period of being idle or away from the computer. It's a HARDWARE REGISTRATION page that requires you to fill in your user name and password for the ISP and then u have to reboot your computer each time before you can access the connection. Please help as this is very frustrating. Please ask for more information because I know I probably haven't provided enough to trouble shoot this 100% yet.
The reason I have resulted to forums is because my ISP says it's a system or router issue. They said routers make connections do funky things. I think they are right because we did plug the computer back directly into the modem and the connection is fine. It might be a windows security issue or LAN issue. I have no clue. Again, all help or comments would be appreciated. |

Using the ORIGINAL system that was connected to the broadband, clone it's MAC address to the router, see if that helps.

It's in the setup of the router, normally in a Tools menu. Since I probably don't have that model router (whatever it is), I can't be more specific.
