dv6000 wireless prob.

i have a hp dv6000 and i can't connect to any WLAN networks. I don't even see the HP wireless assistant icon when i restart or turn on the laptop. I checked under the device manager and the Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN adapeter is under the hidden files but is still enabled. I also checked the computer setup by pressing f10 when the computer starts up and it says the internal network adapter is enabled. I reset the system config. to default once and got it to work for 30 min. but the next time i tried to turn back on the laptop it failed to connect again. Can sombody plz help me?

Try using windows to control your wireless adapter. Start>run>type in services.msc. In the right pane, scroll down to wireless zero configuration. right click on it >properties. change it's startup type to automatic. start it. apply and OK out. reboot the computer

In network connections, right click on your wireless connection>properties and check the two notification boxes at the bottom

If you don't have a wireless connection- start>run - type in inetwiz and go through the wizard

If you don't see your wireless adapter in Device Manager, you need to address that issue first, drivers are a top suspect. If it doesn't appear in unknown devices either, it may be defective. In any case, address that issue first.

2 thinks on the HP machine.

1. Make sure you have the wireless turned on. There should be a button on the upper right hand side of the keyboard for controlling the wireless, additionally there should be a blue LED right in the bottom center of the display that lights up when the wireless is in fact enabled. Note, there is a driver problem that either turns the wireless off randomly and/or causes the blue LED not to light up when it should be lit.

2. There are also some driver issues with the DV6000. The easiest way to solve this it go to Windows Update. Choose Custom rather than Express. Look for Hardware Updates specifically for the Broadcom Wireless card. Install these updates and see if this solves your issue.

You really need to get the machine connected to a wired location to run Windows Update.

Otherwise you will need to try the Broadcom support page, but this might be confusing for someone not familiar with their product line up.

Would suggest that you go to Windows Update with a wired connection. Less chance of mistakes.
