Sorry if this was not clear.
Basically we have a windows domain and all workstation are WinXP. The users logon to different workstations each time . For example lets say we have workstations (WS01, WS02) and users (U01, U02) U01 may use WS01 on Sunday and on Mandy he may use WS02. I need a way to find out: 1- which user is loged on WS01 or 2- Which workstation is U01 currently using is there a command in windows to find this? without installing a third party software. |

yeah nbstat might help otherwise the connection log in the admin tools in windows should tell u wich computer is connected to the server and wich user is currently logged onto that computer.

Thanks, i found this link on using nbtstat
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kba...sloggedon.html it says in the end : Note: If file and print sharing is turned off by policy in a network, nbtstat.exe –a will not return a user name. i ran nbtsta -a it doesnt show the user names, although the file and print sharing is installed and enbaled on the adaptor. any idea? |

Re: Get IP of logged user on remote machine
I created a script that assists with this, and may work for you. It basically searches file servers / any server where a user may have a network session, and performs a remote "net session" and searches for the username you're after. It works very well for me. I've also added a load of other features (automatic remote assistance etc etc)
Check it out here (make sure you read the doc) : http://www.safetoland.com/pctools.html Hope this helps. Paul |
