Need help witha proxy tunneler
Hey, I wasn't sure which forum to post this in but i eventually settled on this one. Sorry if it was the wrong choice. Also, I post a summary of the problem after some bold font, please skip to this if you aren't patient enough to read the whole thing, thanks.
Anyway, I have a problem using a shareware program called proxycap, but to explain the problem, i'll need to give a little backstory. I live in a country called the United Arab Emirates which is very westernized for the most part, except for one thing, their monopolistic telecommunications commpany called etisalat which all residents (locals or expats) hate with a passion. Essentially, Etisalat offers incredibly horrible customer service, at a high price, frequent down time, and a proxy to decide what people can and can't view. I tend to use the internet a lot, mainly for games (WoW, CS, stuff like that). Unfortunately, for the past couple of months the latency has been incredibly bad (2000 ms in WoW, no exageration). And a few people figured out a way to get passed the proxy using a proxy tunneler called proxycap. reports came in from everywhere about this fixing the problem. However, for some reason, I just can't get it to work. I'll give a link to the forum page that has become slightly infamous amongst the PC gaming crowd in this country in the hopew that someone will be able to figure out what I'm doing wrong. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxis the website with the instructions I used. Now a friend of mine used this, and saw all his latency problems fixed. However, it won't work for me. I enter all the settings exactly as they are shown in the screenshots but whatever program i create the ruleset for won't connect to the internet afterwards. I get a winsock error (10053) software caused connection abort. If anyone can help me to get this working, you will have my eternal gratitude, love, and respect ;) . Gaming in lag like this is incredibly frustrating. Summary The ISP where i live sucks and enforces a proxy on all it's users who have to use this isp because it has a monopoly on the market. This proxy creates crazy lag during online games and is very irritating. This website, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, explains a way to get past the proxy that my friends have used to excellent effect. whatever program i create a ruleset for however just won't connect to the internet. I get an error in the error log of proxycap saying Winsock error 10053) software caused connection abort. I'd love some help fixing this, thanks. Last edited by Tumbleweed36 : 01-28-2007 at 11:30 AM.
