Terminology
I'm not sure what stuff goes with what...
I'm trying to understand the conceptual ideas behind remote access since I continue to have problems connecting to WORK, from HOME and not the opposite way. Establishing a HOSTNAME from a DNS site simply gives a common name to the WAN IP ADDRESS of the router correct? If so, do I want a STATIC DNS name if I have my WAN IP ADDRESS set at "specify an IP address"? Do I need to have a STATIC IP ADDRESS for my computer too in this setup? Does PORT FORWARDING take care of establishing a connection from the CLIENT computer to the HOST computer after a DNS connection has been established remotely? And that's basically all you're really doing with PORT FORWARDING? Finally, (maybe finally), has anyone heard that Norton Antivirus disrupts remote access? |
