Sharing Internet connection through PPpoe
The below pic is my network, the blue is the HUB switch, where 8 computers are connected sharing Internet using PPPoe Miniport, the black Boxes are 2 my my computers and the Greens are computers used by other users, every pc onthis switch Uses diff username and password to connect to the iNternet.
My question is is there a way i can use both of my computers to share internet using comp A as gateway for Comp B to access Internet, If Yes, how? Last edited by gopsnair; 12-01-2006 at 12:57 AM. |

Depending on your method of connecting to the internet, you'll need a separate way to interface with the internet (meaning you need one for the internet and one for the rest of the network). A 10/100 network card, a wireless card, or a 56k modem (although I wouldn't recommend it) can be used to share an internet connection. Whichever it may be, the steps you'll need to follow are exactly the same. First you'll need to connect to the internet with computer A. In your Network Connections, right-click on the connection that you used to connect to the internet. Click properties, go to the advanced tab, and select the box that says "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection". Click OK to everything and the icon should now say it is share. Then, on all computer B machines, you'll need to run the Network setup wizard and enable them to use the shared internet connection. On the fourth step of the wizard, you'll see a message that says "The Wizard found a shared internet connection on the computer "<computer A name here>. Do you want to use this connection for internet access?" Click yes, and finish the wizard. Follow those steps on all computers either by running the wizards individually on each machine, or by creating a network setup disk.
