EEK! Desperate for help

I'm trying to set up a dg834g router with a WG111 USB adapter (both wireless Netgear devices) on a Win XP Pro machine with Sp2

My problem is that I can get it to connect, but the second I try to enable any security encryption it drops the connection and can't keep it. Both the devices are set-up the same. I am trying to using WPA encryption.

Is there an echo in here?

First off, did you upgrade the firmware on both devices to the latest versions? Did you try other encryption like WEP? Describe the exact process you use to setup WPA encryption? Are you using a wired machine to configure the router?

Haven't upgraded the firmware yet, no. Will do that tomorrow.

Tried WEP and no joy with that either. All I done to set up WPA was to tick that option in both the USB dongle and the router config page.I then put the password into the router config page.

I was using a wired machine to access the router but have taken it off now. I can't get the secure connection either way.

Ta for the quick reply :)

You need to setup the WEP or WPA password on BOTH sites.

Got it folks! Had sdet it up via wired and then tried wireless and it could see it but only when not secured. Turns out that windows had corrupted the password in the dongle (changed a letter), as I had pasted the same password into both accounts. That's why it was seeing the connection and connecting and disconnecting. Just wish it said wrong password :(

Had already set it up on both sides...

Doh!

Thanks for the help anyway!
