IP and internet port confusion...

hello people..

erm ok i needed to find my IP to play a game online, and i found it from one of many sites, but i found a problem when i did..

my IP stays constant but my port number changes every few seconds..

uh.. so every time i refresh the page its different.. suffice to say i cant connect to play online...

anyone know whats happening? or how i can fix it?

Give us an example. What do you mean "the port number changes"?

uh so my ip for example will be something like 90.53.47.67

that stays the same..

but then the port number will be something like 1429

and when i refresh the page 1438

and then i refresh again and its 1437

then it might stay as that for a refresh

then it will change to something like 1489

and on and on... (refreshing every 20 seconds)

OK, as I understand it, it's not unusual for the game ports to change. Perhaps the game is searching for a free port?

Nope. I'm not a game player, so I'm probably not the best one to answer this one.
