Network Lan Lag Problem

Gday

I'm currently having problems with my network,

I'm just using a red wire to connect the 2 computers up
I can see the other computer, and all that, I can ping it in cmd prompt and it gets 1ms, so I don't see any problems there, but when I go to play a game say starcraft, it's ultimately laggy, so I tried in a quake game, and saw that the ping on my computer was 120 - 130, and on the other computer 14

does anyone have any solutions?

Are you playing Internet games? If so, I'd lose ICS and install a broadband router.

If you're not using Internet sharing, I'd just connect the two without ICS. That will probably fix the lags.

OK, let's back up. Do you share the Internet on the two computer? How did you configure the two machines to connect?

On each machine, do this:

For 98 or ME, Start, Run, COMMAND to open a DOS window:
--- or ---
For 2K or XP, Start, Run, CMD to open a DOS window:

Type the following command:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

It appears that you have two network cards in, with one connected to an Internet supplier, is that correct?

You need to configure the second card that you're connecting to the other machine with a fixed IP address, and likewise the other one.

PC1:
IP Address: 192.168.0.2
Subnet Address: 255.255.255.0

PC2:
IP Address: 192.168.0.3
Subnet Address: 255.255.255.0

See if that gets you talking.
