simple 2 terminal connection...help?

I want to connect two systems together, one has wifi to internet only and the other no connect presently. I want to hook the unconnected machine to the wifi machine so as to be able to use the internet svc from it to the unconnected machine. Both have ethernet ports, I do not own a router or hub so am looking for a solution which uses what I have currently and not have to buy more equip. Is this possible??

My internet svc is scopped from others AP's, so I do not actually subscribe to internet svc from a provider...most networking configs I have read about and tried revolve around using a ethernet hub/router to connect each terminal. I have also read that if using jus the two machines one can do without the hub/router, but have not been able to find out exactly how this is setup? I have tried the setup using straight thru and crossed cables, can establish connection using the crossovers but end up with the ol' limited or no connectivity' message each time, so am I doing something wrong or is it just not possible and is being fooled to thinking that there is a router where none exists when issueing this err?

Help? thanks in advance, jaydag71

So you are stealing bandwidth from your neighbor? That's not nice.
