Wireless networking with Dell
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. I have been trying to set up a wireless network using - 1) D-Link DWL-G650 wireless PCMCIA card or 2) TrendNet USB wireless adaptor. (By the way I have used both of these on other computers and have connected effortlessly.) With the Dell, it shows the network on the list, but when I click on connect, it acts like it's trying, but then it just goes back to the list with no error message or anything. I have tried to "repair" the connection, but it says it can't because it can't connect to the network. (Catch 22)
What precipitated this was I tried to install a Verizon wireless card and couldn't, then when I tried these other two - same thing. Is there some kind of conflicting software or setting on the Dell that is preventing connection? I am going NUTS, please help!! |

VZW Card
I just went through this trouble of installing a VZW card a couple of days ago. I was in the VZW store, getting my new Chocolate looked at AGAIN when I overheard a kid having some issues.
I would highly recommend UNINSTALLING everything that was installed with the VZW card. There are drivers and such that could conflict with other wireless devices. Easiest way is to go to Control Panel -> Add & Remove Programs and unistall the 3 programs (if you successfully got them installed) that VZW installs. ( I would list them, but I do not remember there names sorry!)Do this, then retry the wireless cards. A shutdown/restart might be a good idea to do after the unistallation as well.
