inner/outer ips
Could someone clear this up for me?
To my understanding, an inner ip is an ip just for one computer alone, which distinguishes it from a network of computers, the one that shows up if you go to ipconfig. And the outer one is the ip you show up as on the internet (along with the rest of the pc's on your network). Uhm. Correct me if im wrong. Also, when someone talks about a router assigning ip's to each device connected, would that be an inner ip, outer, or what.. thanks in advance. Last edited by booyah188; 11-22-2006 at 09:10 AM. |

An internal IP address is one that is assigned by a DHCP device on a small network such as a home or office. External IPs are often provided by an ISP or other data provider.
