ok I'm trying to go from my cable modem to my PC's first ethernet card, and the out of the second card to my router then to my laptop..

somewhere between leaving my PC to my router its not talking

I need help!

What you need to do is Bridge the two connections. Go To control Panel and you shall see the two local area connections in Network Connections. What you do is Select both connections then right click on one of them and select Bridge Connections. That should take care of it.

ok I tried that, and I didn't have the internet on either computer.

is there another step should the fire walls be on? I'm very new at tall this

Why in the world would you put a machine between the broadband router and the modem?

What do you hope to accomplish?

You want it to be like this order...

Modem--->Router--->PCs

I want to bypass it for my personal reasons, could you please help or not?
