web browser SSL authentication

when dealing with secure web sites using SSL,how do I' insure that my web browser is compatible with their web site client authentication?

I' went to a secure web site, but theirs no mention on their web site as to what web browser to use, also no links for more info?

who should I' contact for this info? should I' address them like this example

www.administrator@.*****.com?

SSL is a standard protocol that should be universal between all browsers... but check here:

http://verisign.netscape.com/advisor/

This will make sure that your browser is compatible with the standard.

Are you using some off-base browser?

It can do this in several places, but does not have to.

If you are in doubt of the security of a web site or the legitimacy of a web site, stay away. If it is too good to be true, it probably is.

If you are using a reputable browser like IE and you see https:// instead of http:// in the address bar, you can probably take a sigh of relief.

.
so the only way for one to find out would be receiving some server message stating "your web browser is outdated" please update your web browser or something like that?

The SSL protocol would have to change completely for you to have a huge problem.

That's the great thing about protocols.... they don't change often. Your web browser does nothing but interpret the SSL protocol. But it is a good idea to keep your web browser up to date.
