my server computer has become an isolationist

i use windows xp to network 5 computers, peer to peer. 1 computer is the server computer.

this morning the server computer cant see the rest of the network, though it still see's the internet. the other 4 computers see each other & the internet, but dont see the server computer. when i try to access the server computer from another computer, either with explorer or peachtree, i'm told "server is not accessable; you may not have permissions"

i tried running the network setup wizard on the server computer again, no luck. file sharing is on, thought first thing this morning it was off for some reason

last evening i got the latest 10 windows updates

computers are all less than 2 years old, lots of ram etc.

what should i try next?

By server, do you mean a Domain Controller?

By what means are you connecting to the file server?

What are the OS's of each machine that are trying to access the file server?

Have you checked to make sure that the firewalls are off on each of the machines that you are trying to access?

Go to the control panel and then to security center. You should be able to disable the firewall. see if this helps your situation.
