Any RMON2 probe demos available?
Hello,
I'm looking into adding a few "cool things you can do" with network management which will help make our CCNA4 network management chapter a bit more interesting. We currently have a educational license of Fluke Networks Optiview software that can analyze network utilization etc using RMON1 from our switches however I've noticed that RMON2 is able to give even more functionality such as who the top users are, which for our gamer/Lan students would be really interested in But we don't have any RMON2 hardware (unfortunately our Cisco 2600 routers don't appear to have the right IOS). So what I'd like to know is whether anybody knows of any RMON2 probe software that could be installed on a PC (30 odd day trials are fine) I'm assuming here such a program exists :) (Edit: Should mention that my google searches are only finding software monitoring demos, rather than probe) Last edited by sir subaru; 11-19-2006 at 11:33 PM. |

Actually nevermind. :)
After looking through our cupboards I've found some forgotten software called Distributed Observer 6 which includes an RMON2 probe. We stopped using it after we went to Windows XP (incompatibility reasons). But I should be able to jack up a Windows 2000 box and stick it on the network for when the labs are running.
